Teacher Birthday cake

Very pleased!

It's just about 4 am and I just finished a cake. I am very happy with the way it turned out. But I really need to start a little earlier so I'm not up this late. I was actually very nervous about this cake, because it is the first cake that I am getting paid for. It's actually for someone that's not my family! lol Anywho.. I will post pictures probably tomorrow. The one rule I have is that I cannot post any pics of the cake until it has been delivered. I love the reaction I get and it would kill that if they saw pictures of it ahead of time.

Strawberry basket cake

This is my absolute favorite cake. Which is weird for me because I am a total chocolate junkie. It was sooo yummy. White cake with layers of cream cheese and strawberry fillings. Covered in buttercream and topped with strawberries. There is something I would definitely do differently next time. The leaves I would make out of fondant instead of buttercream. It just didn't quite have the look I was going for.

Race car cake

The twins race car cake. I was originally planning to do the checkered pattern around the side of the cake. But the crappy cake recipe I used just kept falling apart. I decided to just cover the whole thing in fondant and leave it at that. Even though it didn't shape well... the cake itself was very delicious. Which is sad because I'll probably never use it again. It was a chocolate fudge and chocolate buttercream. Covered in chocolate fondant.

Smash cake

Baby Lilly's smash cake. It was very simple, but I liked it and so did she. I topped it with a #1 candle that was red and glittery.

Ladybug cupcake

Cute little ladybug cupcakes I made for baby girls birthday party. The ladybug is made from chocolate.

Firetruck cake

Camping cake

I made my brother this camping cake for his birthday. It was a chocolate cake filled with hazelnut and ganache.

Butterfly cake

I love this cake, because I love purple! And because it was really yummy. Carrot cake with cream cheese filling. Frosted in buttercream.

Zippleback

A nephew on mine loves the movie "How to train your dragon". When I made this cake for him I hadn't even watched it yet.. I believe it was still in the theater and I never go to the movies. Anyway this was also a very fun cake to make. I learned ALOT from this cake! This is also a pound cake with buttercream and fondant. And I used rice crispy treats to shape the neck, legs and tail.

80's cake

This was such a fun cake to make! And it was my first 100% from scratch cake. I was very impressed with myself and everyone at the party loved it. This is a pound cake with buttercream and fondant.

Twilight cake

This is the very first fondant cake I have ever done. It was my gateway cake.. haha. I had decided ahead of time that if I was able to conquer the fondant on this cake that I would go on to do more difficult caking. And amazingly it went very smoothly for me. The Jacob on this cake from "Twilight" was hand painted by me with food coloring.

Dragon cake

This is a dragon cake I did for my nephew's birthday. I did a red velvet cake, because he wanted it to look like... the real insides of a dragon lol. I need to work on my cake boards. I am not happy with the same old foil wrapped board. I was thinking on the way to deliver this cake that I should have sprinkled brown sugar on the board.. to make it look like sand. So I have a good idea for next time. I also want to start experimenting with fondant covered boards... I think that looks really good with some cakes.

Ladybug cake

Since this is suppose to be about my cakes I guess I should post a few of them. I did this one for my baby girls' first birthday. It was a lot of fun to make... and I love ladybugs. This is a yellow cake with buttercream and fondant. This is 100% made from scratch.

Here we go!

So I've never done this blogging thing before... but here we go! I decided it's time to share my cakes with everyone! I have no training and have taken no classes. I am just naturally gifted when it comes to caking.. lol. I'm still in the beginning stages so much of what I do is a learning experience... but I have to say that it usually always turns out great! I am kinda cocky when it comes to my cake making skills. I am up for any challenge!
